Elizabeth City, NC – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) announces a special exhibition of lithographic prints from renowned 19th-century French artist Honoré Daumier. This extraordinary collection, on loan from the Ackland Museum of Art at UNC-Chapel Hill, offers a unique opportunity to experience Daumier’s masterful satirical works. The exhibition opened March 6 with a public reception and will run through April 17, 2025.

This exhibition has been curated entirely by ECSU students, showcasing their scholarly research, artistic insight and curatorial expertise.

“We are very proud of the work our students did in arts management as one of their elective courses in graphic design. We are also very grateful to the Ackland Museum for the immersive experience they have provided for our students and their continued support of the arts here at Elizabeth City State University,” said Jeff Whelan, professor and chair of the Department of Music and Visual Arts.

The Daumier Exhibition furthers ECSU’s commitment to fostering creative and intellectual growth through hands-on learning and partnerships with esteemed institutions like the Ackland Museum of Art.
